Seminar on Constitutionalism

Due to the unlimited government power that has caused severe persecutions, fear has gripped Eritrea and Eritrean communities abroad.  Human rights abuses are claiming many victims as Eritreans are desperately longing for a breathing space.  Many parents are restlessly and nostalgically looking forward to the days that are free from the turmoil that is ruling their lives.

Against such a backdrop, EHDR-UK has made plans for a seminar on constitutionalism that will attempt to address the following four queries:

·         How can legal limits be imposed on PFDJ’s powers?  In other words, what are the legal ways in which the Eritrean society can secure constitutional rights of its citizens?

·         How can laws limit PFDJ when the laws are of its own creation?

·         How do social forces in Diaspora affect the definition and implementation of constitutional rights, and the correlative duties and responsibilities of citizens?

·         How can Eritreans outside Eritrea be affected by the constitution?

Date and name of keynote speaker will soon be announced.
