Holds its 2nd Annual General Meeting

Eritreans
for human and democratic rights - UK (EHDR-UK) held its 2nd
Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 21, 2003 in London. The meeting
commenced with a comprehensive report by the Board of Directors. The
report included the activities undertaken by the organisation such as
publishing articles, letter-writing campaigns to influential people, NGOs
and governments, organising demonstrations against human rights abuses in
Eritrea, organising public meetings and events, running petitions,
supporting Eritrean asylum seekers, highlighting the drought in Eritrea
and its active involvement in strengthening the Network of Eritrean Civil
Societies in Europe. One of the achievements was also the launch of our
website (www.ehdr.org.uk).
The meeting engaged in a frank,
open and heated manner and evaluated its work over the last 18 months.
The achievements were recognised and a number of recommendations
were also forwarded to help the organisation improve and refine its
organisational as well as campaigning activities.
It was also recognised that additional effort and commitment is
required to publicise the never ending human rights abuses inside and
outside Eritrea. The meeting
ended by electing a 9-person Board of Directors.
