NETWORK OF ERITREAN CIVIL SOCIETIES – EUROPE
London,
18 October 2003
The Malta Red Cross Society
celebrated its 12th anniversary on Friday, 17 Oct 2003, with various
activities, both for its members and volunteers as well as for the
public.
Malta - Red Cross has
neglected the Eritrean asylum seekers in times of suffering. Please
choose one of the following questions/statements and send it
an email address listed below to protest the injustice that is
taking place in Maltese detention camps.
1.
Malta Red Cross Officials, do you know what is happening
to Eritrean asylum seekers in detention centres in Malta?
2.
When was the last time you visited Safi, Salfar and
Takandia Barracks? Do you
know there are Eritrean souls there pleading for your attention?
3.
Where are AA197, AA154 and AA202 (ID numbers given to
Eritrean detainees in Malta)?
4.
You are a member of ICRC and you are morally obligated
to investigate the injustice that is taking place in your backyard. Please find out what Zahra T.
Beshura has been doing all day yesterday sitting behind bars. She is not a criminal but an
asylum seeker.
5.
Do you know what happened to those asylum seekers who
were deported back to Eritrea - 223 of them? Do you know that Maltese
officials are preparing to deport the rest in the near future?
6.
Have you been
informed of the fact that the situation has reached an intolerable level
that most if not all of the refugees recently staged a ten day hunger
strike?
7.
How is it possible for an ICRC member society like yours
to look the other way when children are incarcerated in Maltese
camps? Do you know Danait A.
Zerea? She is only three
months old – born in Safi Barracks.
Do you know that 10 other children have been born in Maltese
detention camps in the last 18 months? Do you think their rights as
children need to be protected?
8.
Do you know that the asylum seekers are handcuffed (in
front of their children) during a journey to the local clinic?
9.
Please help the Eritreans in Malta to emigrate to
another country before Dr T. Borg deports them to Eritrea.
10.
ICRC has a reputation to stand up for the
suffering. What have you done for the Eritrean asylum seekers in
Malta lately?
11.
Compassion for those who are detained in Maltese
military barracks. They are not living in dignity.
12.
Some of the detainees in Maltese detention camps have
lost their minds. Please help the rest before they loose their
minds too.
Please act now. Send your emails to the following
