Famine Appeal
URGENT COMMUNICATION TO
ERITREANS
IN THE UK
From ERITREAN for HUMAN & DEMOCRATIC
RIGHTS -UK.
EHDR-UK wishes
to pass this message to all Eritreans in the UK regarding the devastating
drought and famine in Eritrea.
It is a
widely known fact that Eritreans have become victims of the recent
drought. In addition to the
already existing bad governance by PFDJ, which has become detached from
the people and isolated from the world community, EHDR-UK is convinced
mismanagement of funds, lack
of diplomatic ties and dispersing the labour force are some of the causes
of the current tragedy.
EHDR-UK is of the opinion that the responsibility of caring for
the Eritrean people during these trying times should be that of the
government.
However,
irrespective of the government’s clear failures, EHDR-UK believes that
every Eritrean has a moral duty to follow closely the tragedy which is
unfolding in our country and contribute in any capacity he/she wishes to
counter this devastation.
We have
established that there are a number of independent NGOs working in
Eritrea which you can contact for specific information with regards to
how you can send your financial contribution. You can send money directly to organisations listed
below by stating clearly that your contribution is earmarked for the
famine in Eritrea. Such NGOs include CAFOD, CARE and OXFAM. They could be
contacted directly for further details in the addresses given below.
