On 18 and 19 September 2001, 11
senior officials in the ruling People's Front for Democracy and Justice
were arrested. They had written an open letter in March to fellow party
members accusing the government of acting in an ''illegal and
unconstitutional'' manner. They remain in incommunicado detention without
charge or trial [until now].
Amnesty International - Report 2002
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy
of this period of political transition in Eritrea was not the loud and
dishonest roars of President Isaias Afewerki and his PFDJ Organisation,
but the appalling silence of those who know the truth of the matter.
You have a moral duty to speak out now before it is too
late.
Let the detainees go!
